(Design Concept / Architectural Competition)

In June 2002, Gulf Consult in association with Michael Gebhart Architect, AIA, who developed the architectural concept, won the architectural competition for KNPC’s new head office for 440 staff managing its technical, engineering and maintenance operations. The approximately 18,000 sq.m building comprises a basement, ground floor and three upper levels.

The building is linked by a pedestrian bridge to a controlled parking area within KNPC’s restricted refinery premises. A large full height internal atrium on to which the upper levels overlook is a main feature of the building. Its striking curvilinear form and architectural treatment effectively responds to the site’s location and its physical constraints.

Extensive landscaping with parking for about 250 cars, enhances the building’s setting.
