Gulf Consult in association with Malone Given Parsons (Toronto, Canada) and Parsons Brinkerhoff International (Kuwait) were engaged to develop the Physical Development Plan of the Northern Sub-Regional Area for Kuwait Municipality.

The Physical Development Plan for the Northern Sub-Region encompasses an estimated 10% of Kuwait’s land area and is presently largely undeveloped, featuring hundreds of kilometres of pristine coastline, environmentally protected areas and the major infrastructure developments of the Subiya Power Station and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port.

The Development Plan for the Northern Region provides a framework for the planned population of 1 million at build-out. It also articulates the vision for the region, identifies strategic land uses and interrelationships, and provides implementation strategies for the purpose of informing future urban planning and development decisions.

The Physical Development Plan has been prepared with an understanding of the unique social, economic and environmental challenges and opportunities that exist on the site and within the context of Kuwait’s national planning policies and Ministry and government agency regulations.
