Gulf Consult were commissioned to lead a design team to undertake, on a fast track basis, Full Design and Tender Documents for the redevelopment of the existing Fahaheel Fish Market and Dhow Harbour with the creation of:
- New fresh fish, meat and vegetable market
- Recreational complex comprising restaurants, cafes and three cinemas
- 1 km of new beach facilities
- Substantially increased Dhow Harbour, to include moorings for fishing boats (adjoining the fish market) and Luxury Marina (adjoining the recreational complex)
Site works also included parking for 600 cars, substantial improvements to the public highway and utility diversions.
Design Work and Management was led by Gulf Consult, supported for Detailed Architecture by Dar Al Omran of Jordan and for Marine Works by Mouchel of UK.
