Following the successful completion of the first phase of the Ring Road in 1995, Parsons Brinckerhoff in association with Gulf Consult, were commissioned to undertake all necessary design work in order to complete the loop of the urban motorway around and through the city centre.

This second phase of work has required the consultants’ team to undertake acceptable highway and infrastructure design in environmentally sensitive areas adjoining the historic Jahra Gate, the old Souk and the Dasman Palace, involving motorway in cut and also in tunnel.

The project is now under construction, being supervised by a Gulf Consult/Parsons Brinckerhoff joint venture.
