The key project components that have been accommodated within the new facility, generally comply with the requirements previously specified in the Terms of Reference. The new maintenance facility will be located in Shuwaikh Industrial Area on a 22,023 m2 site, and will essentially comprise customer service facilities, vehicle maintenance workshops, spare parts retail and warehousing components with associated administrative and back-of-house provisions.
Given the urgent need for the new maintenance facility to accommodate the current operation load of Mercedes 3S garage located in Al Rai, it has been decided to build a bridge facility on a fast track basis on circa 30% of the plot that should be completed within one year. The remaining 70% of the plot will accommodate the 2S Flagship facility, that will also be used as a garage maintenance facility.
The Project received the Small Project of the Year – National Winner at the MEED Project Awards, 2022.
