Gulf Consult in association with Parsons Engineering Science (USA) were appointed by the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) Sanitary Engineering Sector to undertake the full design and construction supervision for the Kuwait Sewerage Improvements Phase VIII Part(A) for the Egaila Area.

The Phase VIII Part (A) scope of work included the provision of a major new pumping station which will collect flows from areas located south of the 6th Ring Road, Fahaheel Interceptor, Fahaheel coastal catchment area and then convey the flow through three pressure mains of diameter 1,400 mm from Egaila Pumping Station to Riqqa waste water treatment plant in lengths of 5.220 kms. Within the project area, a 2 km gravity line along the main Fahaheel coastal road will be constructed with a diameter of 2,250 mm. Also, a gravity line with 1,200 mm diameter will be constructed collecting flow from the transit chamber from south of Hadeya to A-15 Pumping Station and to Egaila Pumping Station.

A treated effluent line in 300 mm diameter will be constructed from Riqqa waste water treatment plant to Egaila Pumping Station. This will be used for the irrigation of landscaping at the pump station. The Egaila Pumping Station is 100 m x 150 m, with a depth reaching 48 m. It has been designed to take 362,880 m3 flow by the year 2035. After completion and commissioning of the new sewage system and the pump station, the existing pump station A-14 and A-15 will be demolished, and the Fahaheel expressway existing lifting stations S-16, S-17, S-18, S-19 and S-20 will be abandoned.
