Gulf Consult in association with Parsons Brinckerhoff have been commissioned by the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) to undertake the Conceptual Design and Construction Supervision for Design-Build and Maintenance of Interchanges and Elevated U-turns at Nawaseeb Road (Route 40).

The Nawaseeb Road was initiated by MPW to improve access, safety and traffic operations for the project roadway. With this brief, Gulf Consult and Parsons Brinckerhoff proposed the upgrading of the Nawaseeb Road corridor to provide free flow, eliminating all the existing at grade U-turns, accommodating U-turns at the interchange locations, maintaining access to all the existing developments through interchanges or collector distributor (CD) roads, and providing access to future developments along the corridor.

The major design feature of the Nawaseeb Road upgrade is the introduction of new grade separated roundabouts at all 9 interchange locations.

Fundamental to the concept design of Nawaseeb is the introduction of landscape along the corridor to improve the environment and mitigate the negative impacts of any visual or environmental pollution.
